Brilinta Drug Description

Brilinta is the brand name for the generic drug Ticagrelor – a type of blood thinning medication that is prescribed for minimising the instances of heart attack and cardiovascular death in patients who suffer from myocardial infarction with ST elevation and ACS or acute coronary syndromes. Brilinta Warnings

It is not clearly known if Brilinta is safe for use in pregnant women. If you are trying to conceive or are already pregnant, inform your physician who may or may not prescribe Brilinta during pregnancy. Brilinta may pass into breast milk and harm an unborn foetus. So it should not be used by a mother who is breastfeeding. Your physician may ask you to either discontinue the intake of Brilinta or discontinue nursing, whichever one is more necessary to save the life of the mother.
