Climara Pro Description

Climara Pro is the brand name of a medication that falls under the category of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Climara Pro is primarily prescribed to menopausal women in order to provide them relief from common menopause symptoms like sweating, hot flushes and chills. It is also prescribed to prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis. When Climara Pro patch is applied to the skin, it slowly releases the hormones into your bloodstream. In menopausal women, the ovaries are no longer able to produce oestrogen leading to several uncomfortable symptoms and weakening of bones. This decrease in oestrogen is replaced by the estradiol in Climara Pro thereby providing you relief from the symptoms and also protecting you from osteoporosis. Levonorgestrel is a progestin that reduces the risk of cancer of the endometrium (the lining of your uterus). Climara Pro Dosage Information

a.) Typical dosage recommendations

Typical dosage of Climara Pro is one transdermal patch once a week i.e. one patch every seven days. While the patch is applied, it releases 15 µg of levonorgestrel and 45 µg of estradiol-17β into your bloodstream each day. Dosage schedule follows a twenty eight day cycle i.e. four patches at the end of which a new cycle starts with a fresh pack.

b.) Missing a dose

Change your patch on the same day each week in order to avoid missing a dose. In case you have missed applying the patch on the scheduled day, apply it as soon as you remember. However, never apply extra patches in order to compensate for a missed dose. Skip the dose instead if it is too close to your next normal dose.

c.) Overdosing

In case you think you have overdosed Climara Pro, consult your physician immediately. Typical symptoms of overdosing include withdrawal bleeding in females, feeling nauseous and vomiting tendencies.

Apply the patch exactly as indicated and hold on for some time and press gently around the edges to ensure firm adhesion. Never apply patches on the same skin surface area of your body consecutively. Rather, you should just switch sides but remain within the same area i.e. if you have applied the patch on the right side of your abdomen on one week, apply it on the same area but on the left side of your abdomen on the next week. Never apply a patch on your breast. Also avoid areas which remain tightly clothed or areas that are too hairy. Discuss with your physician the most suitable area where you are comfortable in applying the patch. Though the patch is not affected by water, avoid taking hot baths or exposing it to steam which may loosen the adhesive. In case the patch falls off, trying reapplying it or use another Climara Pro patch. Never store individual patches outside the pack. Store the pack in a cool and dry area away from the reach of children and pets. Avoid exposing patch to sunlight. Do not refrigerate pack or share it with anybody else.

Climara Pro Side Effects
