Depo-Medrol Injection
Depo-Medrol Injection Description
Depo-Medrol Injection is the brand name of a medication that is commonly referred to as a synthetic corticosteroid. Generally, corticosteroids are a group of hormones produced naturally in your body and are necessary for the efficient performance of many vital body functions. Your doctor will prescribe Depo-Medrol Injection in case your body is unable to produce enough corticosteroid naturally because of certain conditions like Addison's disease or to alleviate inflammation due to allergic reactions which lead to redness, itching or swelling. The primary ingredient in Depo-Medrol Injection is methylprednisolone acetate. This synthetic corticosteroid imitates and produces actions similar to the naturally occurring corticosteroids in your body. Depo-Medrol Injection is an aqueous white coloured sterile suspension. It is available as single dose or multi-dose vials in varying strengths of 20mg/ml, 40mg/ml and 80mg/ml. The multi-dose vials also contain polyethylene glycol, monobasic sodium phosphate, dibasic sodium phosphate, polysorbate 80, a preservative (benzyl alcohol) and sodium chloride for adjusting the tonicity. Polyethylene glycol, myristyl gamma picolinium chloride (MGPC) and sodium chloride for adjusting the tonicity are the inactive ingredients in single use vials of Depo-Medrol Injection. Depo-Medrol Injection is presented by Pfizer.

Depo-Medrol Injection Dosage Information
a.) Typical dosage recommendations
As Depo-Medrol Injection is prescribed for a wide range of conditions, the typical dosage depends on the particular condition being treated, age of the patient, body weight, individual tolerance level and the strength of the medication used. When Depo-Medrol Injection is parenterally administered, the typical starting dose may vary between 4mg and 120 mg depending on the condition being treated. However, in extremely critical condition of the patient, the dose may be increased and given in multiple doses. Once a favourable response is achieved, a maintenance dose is prescribed and the initial dose reduced to the minimum dose required for maintaining desired clinical response.
