Lescol Drug Description
Lescol falls in the group of drugs called “Statins”. Lescol is an oral administration drug commonly used to lower high cholesterol levels and high levels of triglycerides in the body. Lescol primarily consists of Fluvastatin Sodium. It is a soluble agent that is whitish and pale yellow in colour. It is highly soluble in water, ethanol and methanol. It usually comes in the form of oral capsules with every capsule containing about 20 mg or 40 mg of Fluvastatin Sodium. Extended release tablets are also widely available containing up to 80 mg of Fluvastation Sodium. There are several inactive ingredients in the capsules too. Some of the common ones include Calcium Carbonate, Gelatin, Magnesium Stearate, Starch, Red Iron Oxide, Titamium Dioxide, etc.

Lescol is used to treat problems related to cholesterol and triglycerides in the body. It can be prescribed to adults and children above the age of 10. Lescol Warnings

It is not advisable for pregnant women or women nursing new born babies to consume Lescol because it may harm the fetus or the new born baby. If you presently suffer from any kind of liver disease or were on liver treatment medicine avoid taking Lescol as it may interact with the medicine or worsen the symptoms of the illness. Lescol Side Effects
It is common for Lescol to lead to some side effects in people. However in most cases the side effects are not severe and tend to subside once the body gets used to the medication. If your side effects do not disappear after a few hours of treatment it is safer to consult a doctor. In severe cases the doctor may advise discontinuing the medication or lowering the dosage. The most common side effects include hives, problems breathing, facial swelling especially of the lips, tongue, throat etc. The side effects listed above are usually not serious effects of the medication. Some patients may suffer from headaches, diarrhea, indigestion, insomnia, symptoms of cold like running nose, sneezing, sore throat etc. These side effects are usually considered common though and do not necessarily require a doctor’s immediate attention unless they worsen.
