Ortho Evra Dosage Information
a.) Typical dosage recommendations
Most doctors recommend applying one patch on the first day of the period and probably continuously thereafter daily till the cycle lasts. You may need to wear a new one in some cases, your doctor will be able to guide you better on this. It is unsafe to use more than one patch a day or more than what is recommended by your doctor. It is important to apply the patch on a dry part of the skin like the upper arm or upper stomach. Avoid placing it on a body part that is constantly exposed or in tight clothing. Furthermore, avoid using the patch on broken skin because it can lead to allergies and minimise the effects of the contraception. Make sure that your patch sticks well to your skin when you place it else the effectiveness of the medicine will wear out faster.
b.) Missing a dose
If you forget to place a patch on the recommended day of your cycle or after it, it may lead to accidental pregnancies. You can speak to your doctor regarding other safe oral contraceptives in this case. Try not to miss using a patch right before your period because it may lead to accidental contraception.
c.) Overdosing
If you use more than the required number of patches within a short period of time, it may lead to an overdose. Try to limit the number of patches you use based on your doctor’s instructions.
