Travatan Z (travoprost)
Travatan Z Description
Travatan Z is an ophthalmic solution that replaces the Benzalkonium Chloride (BAK) present in the Travatan solution with SOFZIA which is an ionic buffered preservative that is mild to the ocular surface. Travatan Z was developed without the presence of Benzalkonium Chloride as this has certain negative effects on the ocular surface and may cause certain medical conditions of the eye.
Travatan Z is available in the form of eye drops and contains the Travoprost ophthalmic solution which reduces intraocular pressure, thus becoming useful in the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension. The drug works by increasing the outflow of aqueous fluids from the eyes.
Conditions Treated by Travatan Z
Travatan Z is used primarily for the reduction of pressure inside the eye brought about by Travoprost, which does so by increasing the secretion of aqueous fluid present inside the eye. Thus, Travatan Z finds use in the treatment of glaucoma and hypertension of the ocular surface.
