Caduet (amlodipine/atorvastatin)
Caduet Description
Caduet is a medicinal drug containing a combination of amlodipine and atorvastatin. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker whose function is to relax the blood vessels and improve the flow of blood thereby facilitating the pumping of blood by the heart. Atorvastatin belongs to the group of drugs known as HMG CoA reductase inhibitors or statins. Its function is to reduce the level of bad cholesterol known as low-density lipoprotein or LDL and triglycerides present in the blood, while at the same time increasing the level of good cholesterol or high-density lipoprotein (HDL). Caduet, which contains both amlodipine and atorvastatin, is used in the treatment of high blood pressure or hypertension and high levels of cholesterol in the body.
Conditions Treated by Caduet

Caduet also finds use in treating angina or chest pain and also lowers the risk of heart attacks, strokes, coronary heart disease and other complications of the heart in patients of type 2 diabetes.
