Exforge (amlodipine/valsartan)
Exforge Drug Description
Exforge is a medicinal drug containing a combination of valsartan and amlodipine. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker, which functions by relaxing the blood vessels as well as the muscles of the heart thereby improving the flow of blood. Valsartan happens to be an angiotensin 2-receptor antagonist which prevents the narrowing of blood vessels and also lowers blood pressure and brings about an improvement in the flow of blood. Exforge, which consists of both amlodipine and valsartan, is hence employed in the treatment of elevated blood pressure or hypertension.

Exforge is usually administered once other options for treating hypertension have not found success.
